I have a picture of a person and want to drag another person into the same image. Goal is to make both naturally stand next to each other. Problem is the second person comes from a much larger picture so that person needs to be made smaller.
Is there a way for me to do that?
Any step by step tutorials on stuff like this available? I have CS.

Thanks.

Drag the larger picture into the smaller one and press CTRL+T. This will allow to transform the size. Grab a corner of the transformation box and hold your SHFT key to constrain proportions. Shrink it down to the size you want by dragging the corner in.

I don’t know of a "match color" feature in any menu, but I’m guessing what remco means is that you will have to make the skin color of one person match the other, or more accurately, make it look like both were photographed under the same lighting conditions. I usually Image > Adjust > Color Balance to do this, with some minor tampering with Levels and Brightness/Contrast. Be aware of shadows and light direction too.

Look at your lighting and shadows first, otherwise the final product will not be realistic. If necessary flip the added person horizontally to get correct shadow direction.

Use the lasso to cut person out of second person photo (a feather of 1 pixel softens lines) and then click on base photo and use Edit=>Paste to add.

Use Edit=>Transform=>Scale and Rotate to get angles right and size for your added person.

With added person layer active, go to Layer=>Matting=>Defringe and use a setting of 1 pixel to get rid of artifacts.

Colour can be adjusted using curves or levels or, for those who are a bit colourblind like me, use channels and adjust brightness and contrast of red, green and blue channels separately.

Finish by using Filters to sharpen or blur as required to match base photo.

I had fun adding the Pope to my daughter’s wedding party this way.

Another way to get more accurate lighting effects is to use the Render > Lighting Effects filter. You just determine the angle, intensity and type of lighting. I wouldn’t add the new person into the same layer as the other person. I would keep them separate, in case any further adjustment was necessary. Save as a PSD file and save a copy as a JPEG. Future editing can take place in the PSD file, which can then be used to overwrite the JPEG file.

To resize a picture up or down you use transform/scale holding down the ctrl key while you are doing it. You will find transform under file in the upper left hand side.

The method described does create a separate layer for the added person.
