I have been using Photoshop 6 and am considering purchase of CS. Itis listed on Adobe for $649 US. I do have a couple of questions/concerns that I hope someone here can answer. Oh, I’m an absolute Klutz on most computer matters.

1. If I buy the on-line download from adobe, I presume I can copy it to a disk for backup, then open it and do the install routine. Does the online version have the adobe users manual as a read file, or am I just without a manual?

2. The second concern is with the "authentication" feature. I understand it only works twice and sends info on your hardware setup to Adobe. I would be wanting to install CS on both my home computer and on my laptop….there goes the two installs. Now, I don’t know if this is an Adobe thing or just my Klutziness, but with PS 5.0 and PS
6.0 I have encountered a number of times when I have had the programs
lock up or suddenly lose a number of features and have had to un-install and re-install to get things working again. If this happens with CS am I screwed, particularly if I’m not where I can go on-line to adobe and try to convince them to allow another "authentication"?

Any iformation would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

First, you qualify for the upgrade if you do have a licensed copy of PS 6, that brings your cost to less than 200 usd.

1. If I buy the on-line download from adobe, I presume I can copy it to a disk for backup, then open it and do the install routine. Does the online version have the adobe users manual as a read file, or am I just without a manual?

The electronic download is just the software, you would be better off paying the shipping.

I’ve had to reinstall a few times, the uninstall process allows you to leave the activation info on the computer bypassing the need to reactivate for a reinstall.

Hope that helps,

If you really feel the need to upgrade, try PS 7.0. Most of the upgrades in CS are visual in nature and not much in the terms of functionality. Anything that can be done in CS can be done in 7.0, and there isn’t the hassle of online registration or installation limitations. Also, it’s a little bit cheaper. Hope this helps.

Upgrade. It’s cheeper than buying the full version. And it’s a definite must. CS has a number of features that 7.0 doesn’t have — don’t let anyone persuade you otherwise. Don’t worry about reinstalling. If you run into trouble, just call Adobe. I did & they helped me out immediately.

You won’t be sorry!
