Pics taken with my 20D when viewed in Digital Photo Professional v1.1 (software bundled with the camera) will show the lens used to take the picture (700 – 200 or 17 – 85 but not the entire designation 70 -200 f2.8L USM IS). When I view the same picture, before manipulations, in the browser of PS CS, the lens field is empty, not even the minimal info is displayed. Any one know why that is? Is there a way to configure PS cs to display this info?

Seemingly not.
The more I use Photoshop (since version 3) the more I discover it’s shortcomings. There is a lot of free programs out there (exif read) which read all the EXIF data but I don’t know of any which work inside PS.
