hit caps lock?
Or more exactly, turn off caps lock. If not that, check the preferences to see how you have cursors set to display.

I have checked both the caps lock and cursor preferences, niether have an effect (still no cicle). I was woking with a large file (60 MEGS) prior to this problem. I wonder if I have have run into RAM issues?
also note that if you’re over a neutral gray area at the time (around 127,127,127) the cursor will dissapear due to the fact that the cursor can be xor’d over black or white (when darker, make it lighter, when lighter make it darker) but has no where to go when over grey. a workaround is to press the crtl key or space bar to temporarily bring up the move or hand tool so you can tell where you’re at…
Some users here have created images that can be measured in gigabytes… so the filesize is not a problem…
If the previous suggestions did not work, make sure that the brush choosen is not too big to fit on screen: zoom out to see if it is not the case.
Thanks for the advice, but the brush size does not appear to be the problem either, zooming out does not bring the circle into view.

Make a new image, say 200 x 200 pixels by 72 ppi in RGB mode.
Does the brush circle show up on this?
Don
REBOOT. It just worked for me after 2-3 hours of trying everything under the sun.
Good luck!
No, still no circle with a new document.
All I can suggest then is to physically delete the prefs file (see the FAQ) and then, without reopening PS, reinstall the program. If the problem still exists, then it might be a video driver problem.

REBOOT did not fix the problem …. will try a new install
Finally success! Thanks for the advice this seems to have fixed the problem (hopefully permanently).
No problem, glad to help.
