if i try to open windows explorer, live motion, golive, etc, photoshop cs open, i don’t want to try more programs, that will kill me if i need to work tomorrow on this pc.
what she means is we don’t understand your question. please restate it with as much detail as possible about your system, application versions and exact problem you’re experiencing.
I just load Photo CS and after that, most of my adobe programs like Live Motion or Golive will open Photoshop, only if i click on the file like a .liv will open liveMotion, but if i click on the program shortcut will open photoshop, now after the restore open the "choose the program to open this file", just internet explorer and outlook works, not even windows explore and restore don’t work.
hmm… right click on the ‘shortcut’ and select properties. what is the path name that’s there.
or do you mean that different image files that used to open in other programs now default to opening in photoshop?
you seem to know about the "open file with…" dialog. did you know there’s another one? in windows explorer, in the menu, select Tools> Folder Options> File Types.
in there you can select file types. when you select a type like say for example, "jpg" you should see 2 buttons. The first will say "Change". The second will say either "Advanced" or "Restore". Change brings up the same "open file with…" dialog box you get from explorer. Skip that for now.
If you’ve lost control of what application opens a file type you’ll probably see "Restore". Click that and it’ll go back to the first app that registered that file type. "Advanced" lets you handle all the menu options for a file type.
if i click on any file, will open with the default program, but if i go to start/programs and choose golive(after the restore)will open "open file with…" before the restore will open Photo CS,i guess i just going to reload the whole pancake and start fresh, since this copy of XP was load from Win98.
that’s a good idea. it’s never wise to load over an older os. back up your data, format and reinstall xp. you’ll be much happier and you’ll be suprised at how fast xp runs without all that old 98 garbage underneath.
