Cyrillic text does not allow font scrolling

I use Photoshop CS (Central European) On Windows XP.

When I have a text typed in cyrillic, and I want to scroll the fonts with the keyboard arrows, the scrolling just stops as soon as it reaches any non cyrillic font. Also if I just click any font that is not cyrillic, it automatically jumps to the MyriadPro font, which is actually very very annoying.

So it makes the search for a suitable font a frustration in Photoshop, so that I have to export the PSD file into InDesign, and then look for the font I need. Interesting, that InDesign CS CE doesn`t do this – instead it continues scrolling (despite the fact, that the text is not displayed in the right font while scrolling through non cyrillic typefaces, which is not so bad. It actually was much better, when it just displayed boxes, or something pink as it was in InDesign 2, so it was much easier to distinguish the non cyrillic fonts…)

As I didn`t find any good enough answers in the russian forums, I have to ask this question here…

Please help – is there any way to get rid of this issue?

Ok – I found one solution – first to remove the Myriad Pro Open Type font from all the folders, and then instead to put Myriad Pro Type 1 fonts, which I downloaded.
That`s stupid, because as it`s said in the manual – the Myriad Pro is one of the CE features.

It helps, and also the scrolling now is availible, but then I loose the Myriad Pro Open Type font, which is not so bad, but is there any other way, without modifying the inner installation folders?

Support for PhotoshopCE is through WinSoft.

Soom, I met same problem. It is because of wrong fonts. Nothing to do for correcting. You may use FontExpert to check font validity. If there’s no mark "Cyrillic script" for font then in PS we have problems with Cyrillics as well, though in other programs there are no problems. It’s just "feature" of PS 🙁

Chris, what is WinSoft? I didn’t find any interesting on <http://www.winsoft.com>…..

Chris – this problem refers to the CS too, not only CS CE – there was a problem with non latin text also in normal versions – otherwise why should I go to the CE?!
What is Winsoft?

Pipkin – a very similar problem I found in InDesign, read the thread: Soom "InDesign CS CE font name display issue" 2/16/05 8:37pm </cgi-bin/webx?14>
But this one I cannot solve, as I did with Photoshop…
