Hello Everybody,

I recently got the Adobe After Effects trial, and I have the photoshop cs one as well…Anyways I was looking at tutorials for After Effects on the Internet and I was wondering If I could add a certain effect to a home video…That said, I’m wondering if its possible to make it look like a laser is being shot, (kind of like the star wars blaster guns etc.) If it is possible can somebody quickly give me some instructions? If I can’t with After Effects, is it possible to edit the frames I want with in photoshop and draw in lasers (I’m thinking lines with the glow effect). I could use help on this as well if it can’t be done with After Effects, anyway, thanks for all the help!

You will probably have better luck with your questions on the After Effects forum here.

After Effects (probably with a plugin in from www.trapcode.com) is the better solution for a laser effect. Trapcode has several trial versions (with watermark) that you can try to see if they have the effect you want. My guess would be the "shine" plugin but they have several others that are very reasonable in price.

You CAN use Photoshop to do this but you would have to edit each individual frame and that would be extremely tedious. Rotoscoping is the term.
