It’s on the Photoshop disk.

You have that, right?

And if not, you can probably figure out why it’s not online, eh?

E-mail These People <mailto:> and tell them where you got your copy from. They’ll be happy to send you a new manual.

I did find it on the disk, and I did load it, but as a piracy protection that’s pretty weak. I’ve made a living off some fortunate code I wrote years ago and I hate pirates more than most, but if your help in Photoshop defaults to the web site it’s not that hard to capture the thing. I just think it user unfriendly not to make it available. Granted I also did a custom install, and perhaps that’s why the manual didn’t load, but why in the world would you want to leave the thing on the CD? There are also several other PDF’s on the manual and I don’t have a clue as to which would be useful.

Finally I do a fair amount of traveling and while I was where I keep my masters this time, I know that Murphy dictates that when I need the manual the most will be when I’m out of town and working under a deadline with manuals and disks at home.

Reb:
I apologise for assuming the worst. I don’t know how I knew the manual was on the CD, but when I installed I made sure a copy is on my desktop.

No problem, like I said I hate pirates too, I just needed to establish that I wasn’t one of them and I do think it’s silly not to post the manuals on the web site. I plan on being active on this forum and I wanted to establish I’m a "good forum citizen."

I take your point. I am sure you will make welcome contributions here and I’m dead certain you’ll learn some good stuff.

As far as I know the HTML help file (f1) and the manual are the same. So, maybe that’s why <shrug>

Just to reiterate YrbkMrg’s point:

The manual is a subset of the online help, so you’ve already got all the info on your computer.

Stef, there was a question some of us regulars were kicking about a few months ago here and in the lounge that I think you can help resolve. Are the help files and the manual identical or is one more complete or updated than the other?

thanks, dave
