Do you consider the o/s, resolution of monitors, browser, etc. when designing? Is there a way to test for monitor
resolution, eg and have the web page link to versions of you work that are designed for a specific resolution, or say to test for the presence of a flash enabled browser and redirect if not flash capable?

Thanks : -)

You don’t really need to consider the o/s or browser when designing graphics, unless you are using a file type only a
certain browser can use, eg PNG work with mozilla, but not so well with IE etc. JPG and GIF are the most common on
the web tho.
The resolution of the moniter is not that important when designing but it’s more for the HTML, most web pages
are created for 800×600 and 1024×768, so test the images in this res too. I find using a % in my HTML
works better than px, as you can then set the page to scale with the resolution of the moniter. try it on amazon or something.

I have found problems with brigtness tho, i will always temporarily bump up the brightness of my images to just check
there are no errors within the black that i have missed.

Also yes, you can get a page to test for flash and redirect, i think it’s just a bit of javascript.. google it.

Instead of violating someone’s copyright, you could go to a stock photo or stock clip art site that offers legal images at any resolution that you require.
