Hello,

I would like to create a banner for the header pages on my website. I would like have the same effects like this website : http://www.europapark.fr/

I would like a background color with my title website (no problem for this) and below an image like on this site : not a simple rectangle but with a top curve line.

Do you know how to do it ?

PS : I’m using photoshop 7.0

thanks in advance

Niko

if you mean the wavy line?? I was understanding even en francais! you have to use the pen tool to draw curves
it’s a bit tricky to learn

basically you make two points for the line then make a point change it to a curve point (in the fly out) >you will see another line with points on the ends
then use the handles to bend the first line

This you can use PEN tool, but I have only seem some masters showed off their Pen Tool technique, but I am not a Pen Tool user myself to be able to give you small detail. I hope someone will give you more detail, but in general it works something like

1. You use Pen Tool to create 2 points

2. Then you adjust the curve using a line which will available when you use Pen Tool.

3. After done with the drawing, curving whatever you then have to use a command to turn it into selection (I don’t have Photoshop running at the moment to know the name and where the command is).

thanks I found the pen tools and tutorial on the web to use it.

It’s ok now I can trace curve line,
the only problem is how to cut the image inside the curve line and put in another image ?

If I use the "the magic tool" to select a part of image, photoshop don’t recognize my line and don’t stop the selection on it.

thanks in davance for your help.

As I have mentioned that you can turn the curve made by PEN into a regular selecttion, and you just use the selection like all other selection. Example

– You can delete it then replace with other

– You can paste other photo over the selected area

– You can apply other command’s like Level, Brightness, Opacity and 1001+ other commands to make it disappeared or reappear etc..

Just like the Magic Tool, Lasso Tool, and I believe you can use the combination of Pen, Lasso etc. together (I don’t remember all detailed steps).

flatten the image then erase all the pixels from the area you dont want, and then save as a .png to preserve the transparency of the erased area. This type of graphic with the contoured baseline is soooo common on web sites, its not rocket science, i cant believe so much fuss for one little contoured line

It seems like you don’t even know some very basic understanding of Photoshop (or graphic editing/retouching).

Or making a curve line using Pen Tool is the command most people don’t use daily, but using DEL or similar to delete the selected area is a very basic command you should have known.

thanks for your help

Nicolas

use the path palette
window>paths

at the bottom
any path can be changed to a selection and vice versa

your example has no image fill >>just a gradient

sorry no I looked again it is a picture of Disney with odd shape cut out that pic was another post

make the path and save it as a selection (on bottom of palette)

paste image picture on top of background (white?)
make new layer fill with blue

on picture layer make a mask (icon at bottom)
load the selection of the image area – inverse selection>fill with black now you should see just the shape
go to blue layer/ make mask/ reverse select >>fill black

get it??

any path can be changed to a selection and vice versa
do not use the wand
