Text tool ignoring foreground color?

I’m using Photoshop CS2.

I select my foreground color… say ‘tan’.
I draw something.
Then I select a new forecolor: ‘black.’
I select the text tool.
However, When I type it is still using ‘tan.’ It is ignoring my foreground color.

Why?

you have to select the colour when your in the text tool.
