Hi-

I downloaded a plug-in package and it won’t show up in the "filters" menu. I tried importing the shortcut into the plugin folder, rebooted and it still didn’t show up.

Would someone be so kind as to walk me through the importation process?

Thanks.

Regards,

D.

It would help to know which plug-in you downloaded? and where on your hard disk it is!
But on the information you have given it would seem that you need to place the whole plug-in in the Photoshop plug-in folder (and not just a shortcut). There should be no need to reboot, although you would need to restart PS if it was already running.

Thanks, Harry. I’ll try that. If it doesn’t work, I’ll make a more detailed post.

Hi-

It is a package called Photographic Edges 5.0. Right now, the application file resides in the PSCS Plug-ins folder in it’s own folder PGE. There seems to be nothing in the Plug-ins folder to direct PSCS to launch the application and to install a start-up in the filters menu. Sorry I am so green at this, just starting out in PS. Thanks.

I don’t have this plug-in myself but I note it has a setup.exe file, so presumably that’s what you used!
The folder should be called Autofx – something or other! and there should also be an Autofx 8bf filter in the general plug-in folder?? – When you start PS it should detect all the plug-ins in the folder and should obviously be available via the Filter menu – but possibly under the name Auto FX
Can you confirm you used the setup.exe and that you directed it to place the files in the PS plug-ins folder and not the PS only folder?
