Hi all,
I am looking at a new computer with enough power, memory etc to run Adobe Photoshop
and do video editing.
I would rather be at the top end for performance "than getting by".

A friend has suggested that a Pentium processor would be better than an AMD.
Any thoughts and suggestions welcomed,
Mick.

Hi Mick!
I went to my computer shop where I bought more than 6 computers over the years. This is what they recommended to me:
ASUS motherboard (model ?)
Pentium 4, 3.20 GHz
1 Gig of Ram
ATI Radion 9600 series
2 HD 120 Gigs,
I have no problem with Photoshop. I suppose I’d look into the possibility of having more memory, if it makes any sense… As you see, I don’t pertain to know much except for the fact that what I was suggested to buy is OK as far as I’m concerned. I’ve seen machines (Mac’s) that were faster. Cheers,
Marcel

The Athlon64 is technically faster than the Pentium 4 at the top end. However you would be better off waiting a few months to see how the new dual core processors pan out. They should specifically benefit Photoshop more than other programs.
