On the sides of the blog http://www.bcmblog.com/, there is a rather dramatic gradient that blends into a charcoal background.

I’m using a blog template that only has 5 pixels on either side of the blog in which to create this gradient. I’ve tried many different color black/grey colors, but can’t seem to get the same effect.

Is 5 pixels just to small in which to create this type of effect?

Dramatic? Most people wouldn’t think so.

Apparently. But not if you don’t think too much into it and see it just as a shadow.

You’re right….it is just a drop shadow…Still learning photoshop so dramatic was probably a poor choice of words for the forum, but I was impressed by the design.

I was able to reproduce it, but definately need more then the 5 pixels of room that is available on the blog template that I am using.

As close as I have come to recreating this effect, it’s not perfect and really doesn’t work well with just 5 pixels of room. As much as I like the effect, I’ve elected not to use it.

I’m not sure if anyone has a few minutes, but if someone could upload a psd of this effect or provide a tutorial of the settings to use, I’d sure be interested in learning the exact steps to reproduce it.

thx
