Please be more specific. What exactly does it do? What Mode is the Fill command set to? (Make sure it’s set to "normal." What color mode is the image? Is Preserve Transparency checked in the layers palette or the Fill dialog? Can you explain what you mean when you say the Fill command works in "layer mode"?

When you open the Fill window, you should see:

Contents: Use: (choices like Foreground Color, Pattern, History, and so on)

Blending: Mode: (choices like Normal, Dissolve, and so on)

Opacity: (you can type a number)

Preserve Transparency (checkbox)

Make sure Mode: is set to Normal. Make sure Opacity: is set to 100%. Make sure Preserve Transparency is off.

Thanks for the info it works great now. Don’t know why it has changed. with the age of 75 I am a little bit slow in thinking. Photography is my hobby since I was 6 years old that was in 1939.
