Is getting certified even worth it? Given the upgrades?

What, one wonders, is the cost of progressing ACI and ACE?

Not all that much. I think you have to get another certification, one that qualifies your teaching ability. They require a video tape of a class presentation, and some other things. (It’s been a long time since I looked into it.)

It’s a few hundred pounds for the CompTIA CTT+ exam plus having a video professionally produced plus practise exams and/or training which I would do to ensure passing. The only other advantage I can see to having the ACI is access to Adobe’s teaching materials, but I’m a great believer in the Classroom in a Book series which I think do the job well. Any other tips with regards to starting out training others would be appreciated. Hope I’m not going too much off topic.

To the person who asked: Certification on prior versions is not valid after 90 days of release of the new version. Which means now that the Photoshop CS2 is out, anyone who has a Photoshop CS certifiction would have to re-take the exame for CS2 within the next three month. I hope I’m reading that right, but it is on Exhibit B of Certified Program Agreement which you sign upon completion of exam, if anyone wants to check.

Like I said, I have been using photoshop for a long time. I’m a professional web and print designer and have worked in multinational companies worldwide, as I currently am. I would consider myself an advanced user. I took the test out of curiousity. It is extremely difficult. I got less than 50% (49% if I recall).

A lot of questions pertains to the latest version, and herein lies the problem.

I can understand myself failing. I probably didn’t get exposed to other areas of the tools as I should have.

BUT… how someone can keep up getting "RE-CERTIFIED", I will never know.

I’m sure that I read somewhere when I received my ACE that you can still use Logo etc but if you are certified on an older version you must state that version i.e. ‘ACE Photoshop’ covers all versions ‘ACE Photoshop CS1’ covers CS1 and all lower versions.

For those of you who have received your Adobe Certifications, how are they sent to you? Was it US Mail, United Parcel Service, FedEx, etc?
My US Mail carrier crams everything into my mailbox and wrinkles a lot of stuff. I am going to get a new mailbox(larger) but may not have time to do it before they arrive.
Thanks

I think it came in mail, Bjorn. It is a large letter-sized paper on good stock and I think it was shipped between a couple pieces of cardboard. This was a couple years ago (maybe 5) so the process could be different now.

You mean they don’t send it as a PDF (encrypted, of course)?

They didn’t then. And I would have been upset if that was the only way it was supplied. For $150 I expect a printed copy.

Got my Photoshop CS certificate today. It took about 9 business days after I took the test. Don’t get me wrong, I am proud of it and grateful to receive it, but it doesn’t look near as good as the ones for Photoshop 6 that my friend got a few years ago.

Bjorn

Is it just black and white? The one I got was full four color printing.

It was on a good wheat-colored paper, with the only color being the red Adobe logo, and the gold large text that said Adobe Systems something across the top. It has matching gold graphic of a leaf. It’s not that bad overall, but the font choice for my name didn’t look that good, and the text that said ‘Adobe Certified Expert in Photoshop CS’ was real tiny and not a very good looking font. It appeared to be something like Times Roman.

The older Photoshop 6 certificate I saw had the large Photoshop symbol used for version 6 in the upper corner, the person’s name was written in Caligraphy and the part that said ‘Certified Expert in Photoshop 6’ was large and easily read on the wall.

I would expect a company as large and as graphics oriented as Adobe to have a much more professional looking certificate, especially considering how hard you have to study and how much money you pay to take the test.

It looks like somebody’s secretary chose the fonts.

Outside of having the gold Adobe text and gold leaf, my son’s pee-wee baseball certificates looked this good.
