I came across a text logo that I liked and was trying to reproduce it.

I have uploaded the orignal text and my two attempts to reproduce it at the following url: http://members.shaw.ca/gradientline/help.htm

It almost looks like the original text is bold, yet this font (Banque Gothic) does not have a bold option in PS (there are two varieties, light and medium). I tried adding a 1 pixel stroke but that didn’t work either.

What can I do to add just that little bit of extra thickness to the characters so that it matches the original text?

Thank you

Duplicate the font layer (make sure the duplicated layer is not a font layer, but an editable one – just merge it with an empty layer). Move it to be below the original font layer. Give it a slight blur, like 1-3 pixels (try different values). Make several duplications of the blurred font until you arrive at the thickness/boldness you were looking for.

Thank you

if you are in text tool
right click
USE faux bold and faux italic
for fonts with that option not available

in general
look at top
open character palette
many options for altering the proportions of the text
use 80% and 120% in some boxes and see the difference??
you can make all caps etc
change font and color
all in one place

LOOK FOR "Serpintine" in alt.binaries.fonts. . . or look for a different font altogether
