Dave- you’re being trolled. Trace is particularly alluring – I almost responded to him myself – so there’s no shame in it 🙂
Wiki on trolls:
"An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who posts controversial messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, with the intention of baiting other users into an emotional response."
Thanks for calling me alluring, but hey, I’m no troll. Don’t dump me in the Voivod bucket, just like that. It’s just the way I communicate. It’s me, shoot me.
And I DO follow almost all the netiquettes:
1. Write email message or other communication in complete English sentences
I did
2. Use regular English style. Capitalize first letter of a sentence or a name, otherwise, use lowercase letters.
I did
3. Spell-check your message before sending or before posting on the Bulletin Board.
I did
4. Be POLITE in your email message or other postings; apply the same general rule of politeness you would if you were talking to a person on his or her face.
I did, meet me and you’ll see
5. Make sure YOU make yourself look good while communicating in cyberspace.
I did, but I guess that a pretty subjective point.
6. Do not write in all CAPS. Using all uppercase letters appears as a sender shouting at the recipient. Some words in uppercase letters may be used for emphasis.
I HAVE NEVER DONE THAT (BEFORE), only to EMPHASIS things
7. Sign (Write) your name when an email message is sent.
Just did.
8. Be discrete with use of emoticons; use of excessive number of emoticons is very distracting.
Didn’t YOU just use a emoticon? Very distracting. 🙂
9. Avoid criticism and sarcasm.
Sorry, can’t help you with that.
10. No flaming or spamming.
I didn’t, don’t & won’t
So that is about 8 or 9 out of 10. I’d be proud of my kids when they get grades like that in school.
And in the end, all I did was telling I laughed out loud. And if someone tells me it’s not appropriate to laugh, I start asking questions. Is that such a crime?
And why wouldn’t you respond to me? Do I talk nonsense about PS, besides what you see as trolling?
Regards,
Trace (Netiquettes no 7)
PS If people are smart enough to figure out how to post a (very simple and dumb(excuse my disregard of netiquettes)) question on usenet, I always wonder why they didn’t try googling first to find the (simple) answer to their question themselves. So, I guess it’s the chicken & egg question. Who was there first? The dumb question or the trolls?
