weird sketch filter problem

I was able to apply sketch filters to photos, but then i got popup messages telling me that the photos use the same background and foreground colours…. then i was able to apply them having done nothing ….. then i was not able to apply the filters. I don’t know what’s wrong… could some1 tell me what causes this and how to overcome the problem?
