Hello,

I have Photoshop 7.0, windows xp, sony vaio computer, canon printer and canon scanner. My question is the following:

I scanned a fabric swatch that is 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" with beads as detail. The scanned fabric swatch is 350 pixels wide by 420 pixels in height. The document size is W: 2.059 x H: 2.471 and resolution of 170. I have duplicated the fabric swatch 3 times and joined all four swatches to make a square of approximately 5" X 5" I have done this with the purpose to keep the bead detail of the scanned fabric the same size of the original. But, the bead detail still managed to get bigger. How can I make a bigger swatch without changing the size of the beads and the resolution be 72 pixels minimum and 170 pixels maximum?

I’ll appreciate the help.

Are you viewing at 100% (Ctrl+Alt+0)? At any other resolution, pixels get interpolated on the screen and may get interpolated differently in one region than another, causing part of the image to get stretched for display and another part to get crunched. Simply copying the same image multiple times and moving the copies around shouldn’t result in any distortion of the size of the beads in the image file. If you aren’t viewing at 100%, they may look different because of the screen interpolation.
