I updated my windows XP system with all the latest security updates and now Photoshop 7.0 won’t work properly (although it worked before the updates). I can’t "open" any files or "save as" anything from the program window and file drop down. I get no file browser window, just the hourglass until I finally have to end the program to get out. If I uninstall it, my Photoshop 6.0 works fine, but as soon I put 7.0 back in, I have the same problem.

Try resetting photoshop preferences per the procedure in the FAQ’s. Reinstalling does not overwrite the prefs file (fortunately!)

Well, I uninstalled KB821557 and everything is working again, so I guess that was the culprit. That hotfix is listed as a "Critical Update" and is supposed to patch a security hole in XP. Guess I’ll wait and see if MS can get its act together.
