The tooltips thing I’ve heard about. I can’t remember the fix exactly, except to say, try resetting your preferences per the procedure in the faq’s.
In regards to maximizing an image, yes the toolbar will cover up part of it. There are two things you can do. Double click on the blue titlebar of the toolbar, and it minimizes, OR, do what most of us do and press the tab key when your image is maximized and ALL pallets go away until you press Tab again.
