Hey everyone. I’m trying to make some buttons for a web page, and I want the shapes to be rectangular, but with rounded corners. The rounded rectangle tool isn’t really what i’m looking for, that makes more of a pill shape. I just want a rectangle, but without the 90 degree corners, I want the corners to be smoothly rounded off. how can i do this?

If you’re getting a pill shape with the rounded rectangle tool, then you have your radius setting too big.

Go to the options bar and change it something like 10 pixels ans try the tool again. Once you see it’s working, tweak the radius as nessicary.

Alright sounds good, but I cannot even cut out the edges. I mean to say that I’m using the rounded rectangle tool, probably not adaquately. So I am selecting the area what should be cut to round up the edges, but dont know hot to proceed further. Edit> Stroke doesnt help really, because there is still the rectangular shape visible.

Please help, I am frustrating.

Put the part you want cut out on a separate layer. Use the Rounded Rectangle tool to select the area you want, and press "Ctrl-Shift-I" to invert the selection. Then press "Delete."

You could also use a layer mask instead of inverting and deleting.
