I’ve run into a sudden issue with Photoshop 7 having told me there was a hardware error, then it shut down. Now anytime I start it up, it tells me there isn’t enough RAM and won’t initialize. I’ve checked my RAM and it’s all good. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled photoshop, still doesn’t work. (Interesting to note that Photoshop 6 DOES run and so does Imageready, but when I do the upgrade to 7, Photoshop just spits out the same error.

I am running this on a Windows machine with XP. Nothing has changed on this machine in two weeks, no new software, hardware, etc. Every other program works fine. Uhm.. help?

See the FAQs of this forum, and follow the procedure to delete your preferences. This should fix your problem.

Nope. Doesn’t work. Since I reinstalled Photoshop there isn’t a pref file…

reinstalling doesn’t overwrite the pref file, so follow the advice in post #1

Bah … figured out what I did wrong and where the pref file actually was. Thanks. I had considered removing the pref file earlier, but couldn’t find any documentation to support it.
