Using Photoshop 7 or Cs3, I have figured out and made up an automated gallery page and have folder containing jpg.images, thumbnails, page and index.html. Then told to open web folder in browser to preview gallery. I don’t know how to do this..do I have to contact my server to do this?

I did something with index.html once quite a while ago and don’t remember how to set it up. Hope this is right place to ask this question……..if not, what newsgroup would be?

Any help will be very much appreciatred,

Dolores

Hi Dolores

I can not really make out your question, but it sound as if you created a gallery page and does not know what to do with it.

You should (if I understand your question correct, of course) find free space for a web site / homepage and publish it. Therefore you need a FTP facility. Any HTML Writing program should have the info needed available and have either FTP available or another publishing facility.

Type any of these words on your search machine and you will find gold mines of information. This is not really the news group for information on HTML.

Open any HTML Writer, download a demo if necessary, and read the help section complete.

Hope you the best of luck – search the info and you will find more then needed.

Sorry, reading it again, I see you are talking of ‘previewing’. My misunderstanding – far beyond midnight. I’ll come back in the morning hours and see if somebody helped you on the way. Sorry for the misunderstanding:-)

the photoshop/bridge web page setup in my system (CS3 Windows XP) automatically opens the index.html in Internet Explorer when Photoshop has finished. Have a look at your Photoshop file associations for .htm and ..html. to see if Internet Explorer is linked (or whatever browser you use).

If your you use windows and it has the correct file associations set up you should be able to start it by double clicking on index.html in the directory folder.

Also you can start index.html by running internet explorer (or whatever) and doing a File>Open.and selecting index.html

I use Photoshop 7. I take it you are making a Web Photo Gallery using the Automate function. The best way to do it is to create two temporary file folders: a folder containing the images you want in the gallery and a folder you want the gallery to be in.

Copy (copy, do not move)the pictures you want to include into the first folder. This is your source folder that is located by "Browse". Designate the second, empty, folder as the "Destination" folder. Pick your style and add the other data and click "OK".

This puts the images into the Destination folder. As soon as they all open in the Destination folder you’ll get a Preview. Play that. If want to change it, then just close it and do it over. If you like it, that’s the file you need to FTP to your web host.

You’ll need a web host if you don’t have one. I don’t know what "vbe.com" is. You need one that will accept .htm file extensions. Not all hosts will. You will need to upload the entire file which will contain three folders.

Once you’ve uploaded the gallery to the host, you can delete the two files that you created.
