Has anybody been able to get Genuine Fractals 4.0 to work with Photoshop CS2? My Genuine Fractals 4.0 was working fine with CS but after upgrading to CS2 and removing and reinstalling Genuine Fractals 4.0, I can’t make it work. GF shows up on the Automate Menu just as it did with CS, but when you click on Genuine Fractals…, Photoshop just shuts down.

Robert,

I have exactly the same symptoms as you do. I posted a question to Lizardtech about it and they are not aware of the problem, but then again they admitted that they don’t have a copy of CS2 yet and therefore haven’t tested GF 4.0 on it. However, they said that they have ordered a copy of CS2 for testing.

That’s all I know about … but it is good to know that more than likely it is nothing that you (or I) did wrong.

Hmmm… It seems odd that Lizardtech was not among the beta testers, allowing them to ensure product compatibility.

Sounds fishy to me… Where do you order a
copy of Photoshop from when you’ve got
customers with problems? I might go down
to Best Buy or Fry’s and pick up a copy the
same day. My bet is that they are aware of
the problem and won’t announce that until they
have a fix.

SOP for a lot of businesses. It sucks.

I’m having the same problem. Worked like gangbusters on CS and shuts CS2 down instantly. Thanks,

I have not used Genuine Fractals since CS has had Bicubic Smoother and Bicubic Sharper. I have been a big supporter of GF in the past. However, since the new Bicubic options have been available, I see no advantage in using Genuine Fractals. I have run side by side tests and arrived at this conclusion: Bicubic does a better job and takes much less time.
Of course, your tests may show otherwise. Just my opinion…
