I am trying to make a photobook for a significant moment in my father-in-law’s life.
It will consist of photos from his and his descendants lives. I am also trying to put a graphic family tree into the book and am wondering if it is possible to overlay the graphic (created in Excel but turned into a jpg) over a photo so that the graphic is transparent and the photo is visible through the graphic.

I am certain it is possible but my searching through the help files on my copy of Photoshop Elements 3 doesn’t get me any closer.
Maybe I am just technologically challenged or can’t read instructions written for the knowledgeable but I would love to be able to do it.

Any help around?

Thanks

Gerrit

Why don’t you ge yourself a copy of Family Tree Maker where its all setup so you can print a family tree.

Hi Gerrit,

There are a number of good ways to accomplish this. One is to copy and paste the graphic on top of the photograph, set the transparency of the layer to 50 percent, and use ctrl-T to change the size and location. You may find that you get a better effect by setting the layer mode to darken.
