My dominant SAVE AS is PNG. It’s a lot of clicking to save a psd as a PNG.

Is there any way to build a shortcut?

Not really–choose Save As and choose PNG in the popup in the Save As dialog. Or use Save for Web, though with large files that’s likely to be slower.

Have you tried to play with ‘actions’ under windows, maybe program a action script thing, then you could apply a shortcut key to that?

I don’t know about a shortcut but I created an action that will save most formats as a bmp (I’ve only used on common image formats). You have to record once and then (with the action selected in the actions window) just click on the Run arrow to make the save. It’s one or two clicks.

Adding to previous message, to allow for multi-layer psd you will need to flatten image first (Layer/Flatten Image) then save as PNG when creating the action.
