Print With Preview Shortcut Inoperative in PS CS2 Tryout Version

Ctrl+Alt+P is defined as the shortcut to access the Print With Preview command. I am running the PS CS2 Tryout under WinXP/SP2 and using a Logitech Bluetooth Cordless Elite keyboard. All drivers are current. While trying to create a toolbar using Macro Toolbar that would access the Print With Preview command, I found that the keyboard shortcut does not invoke that command. I have not yet found any other Alt+Ctrl shortcut combination that fails; Close All and Image Size both work, for example. Similarly, I have not found any other "p" shortcut combination that fails. I was using Trevor Morris’s expanded set of keyboard shortcuts when I first observed this, but reverting to the default set still exhibits the problem.

Use of Macro Toolbar is not a factor here, as I observe the problem whether the application is loaded or fully shut down (not tray-resident). I have no other applications active that would be attempting to take over this keyboard shortcut.

Does anyone else see this, whether using the tryout or packaged version of PS CS2?

P.S. – This is weird…checking PS CS, I observe the same thing. I’ll explore further and shut down any active processes that I can to see if I can isolate the cause as unique to my system.

crtl-alt-p immediately brings up print with preview for me daryl. try resetting your keyboard mappings to default and then restarting ps to see if something got finagled while you were setting up…

Thanks Dave. I did reset the keyboard mappings and that didn’t change anything. What is so odd is that I saw the same problem on two systems, laptop and desktop, not to mention for both PS CS2 and PS CS. It really sounds like some strange software conflict common between the two PCs, but I’ve failed to identify it. While I’d like to figure out what is wrong, if that’s the only problem and redefining the keyboard shortcut is all that’s needed, I’ll just use that as my solution in PS CS2 while continuing to just rely on my PhotoBars in PS CS. When I’m really, really bored, I may troubleshoot things further.

thank bob for the keyboard remapping though. i don’t know why i didn’t do this in cs, but last night i remapped shadow/hilight to Crtl-W (normally close). WOW! what a time saver! 🙂

I’ve no idea what would steal that one specific key combination. If it was more than that, I’d blame keyboard drivers…or otherwise! LOL! I may figure it out later. I use Ctrl+W for Save for Web…far easier than Ctrl+Alt+Shif+S. If Bob is the one who pressed for keyboard remapping, then definitely, thanks Bob!

Problem resolved…I guess I wasn’t trying quite hard enough, but the problem shortcut of Ctrl+Alt+P was being used by a display utility I use called 1st QuickRes. I overlooked that utility having its own set of keyboard shortcuts when I first explored this problem.

File this one under "deletable postings". 🙂

Dave, I read #3 but just was too quick to think I’d covered all bases when I hadn’t. I so rarely use 1st QuickRes that it’s easy to overlook.
