Hi,

As I await the shipment of my CS2 box set hopefully next week, I was wondering if anyone knows for sure if Adobe has solved the problem of installing their product onto a PC which has a RAID I configuration?

I have an Adaptec SATA raid controller card and a new Maxtor 120 gig sata drive I just purchased. They sit upon my desk, still in the box. I am wondering if I should ship them back to zipzoomfly.com for a refund, or go ahead and install them with confidence.

I’m not sure what your concern is, and I haven’t heard of any concerns with Photoshop and Raid 1. I have Raid 1 on my Dell and I experience no difference installing software or in the daily running of my computer with Raid 1 versus a standard hard drive set-up. It’s all behind nthe scenes!

Is there some concern I haven’t heard about?

Thanks!

I read that and I think you just need to try it. At least it suggests there is a way around the problem. Raid is too good a thing to give up because of a "possible" problem which seems to have a solution.

If there is still some hesitancy to proceed, I would call that number and find out what they say BEFORE scraping the Raid idea.

Or, install it, load CS2 and see if you have a problem. If you can’t solve it, return the Raid.

I would be interested in knowing how common the problem is. As I said, I didn’t run into it.

Are you talking about installing CS2 on a RAID system drive?

I have a regular system drive, which backs up to one of those Maxtor external drives every night, but my work is kept on a RAID 1 SATA setup, and I’ve never experienced any problems. Works great!

I’m currently downloading the CS2 tryout so I may see something, however I don’t see how a software install could have issues with a RAID–it should be totally transparent to it. I know my RAID 5 has not caused any issues with anything I’ve ever run (including CS).
