While in PS if I use the Open File dialog box it will not show thumbnails of jpeg2000 files. However, Bridge generates jpeg2000 files. This happens whether I use the OS format or the Adobe format. Why won’t the open dialog box show jp2 thumbnails?

Also, the Jpeg2000 plugin included with CS2 is very convoluted and slow to use. When saving, it’s more like a filter dialog box than just saving a file. I just want to save the image. The freeware jpg2 plugin I used with PS 7 worked much easier. Save as, choose compression levels, and that was that–just like saving as a jpg. I installed that plugin into CS2 and it works fine–just like it did in PS7. It there a way to make the CS2 jp2 plugin to work a little easier?

You didn’t install the optional JPEG2000 plugin in Photoshop.

Bridge installs it by default, and Photoshop doesn’t.

Chris:

You mean by taking the Jpeg2000 plugin out of the CD goodies/optional plugins folder and installing it in Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS/plugins/Photoshop Only/file formats isn’t installing it? If this isn’t installing it why do the instructions say to do it this way?

Also, if I hadn’t installed it why would I have the Jpeg2000 option in the drop down menu in the CS save dialog box?

Thanks. I think I’ll just use the freeware plugin…

Then Photoshop should be showing JP2K thumbnails in the open dialog. I don’t know why we wouldn’t.
