Question about CS2 Smart Objects

Can you check out something for me? I’ve been reading the help and I have a question about smart objects.
Try the following, create a document and insert a portrait mode photo as a smart object. Rotate the smart object to the left about 45 degrees.
Now, select the smart object and then Layer>Smart Objects>Replace Contents . Replace the smart objects contents with a different portrait mode photo. Is the replaced photo rotated to the left 45 degrees?

Yes. Replacing the contents doesn’t change the transform.
