Both devices are USB and so far have been working properly. I don’t know how to tell if they are on the same hub since one is plugged in front of the PC and the in the back.
My scanner disappeared from File / Import menu, instead my webcam appears.
Can please anybody tell me how to get my scanner registered as a twain device
Assuming you still have the install disks for…
START – RUN – compmgmt.msc /s
device manager
universal serial bus controllers
and/or
imaging devices
find the devices that aren’t working. You might be able to jump right to them by finding yellow warning icons next to devices that aren’t working.
No warnings, not a problem.
If you haven’t intentionally or accidentally unplugged the devices, or even loosened the plugs [loose connection is as good as no connection], select the devices, and 1 by 1, right click – properties – driver tab – uninstall..
repeat for the other device. Sometimes if you know where to look, you can just reinstall the drivers using the update driver, and browse option if the search automatically fails to make any changes. ie: My OLD Maxtor 300 gig HD thinks it’s a TV every once in awhile.
ie: search automatically for the Maxtor, keeps telling me the TV is the right driver.
do the browse, and install from the Maxtor driver folder, things go back to working till M$ wants to fail again..

Then there’s the possibility this is a PS thing like mine yesterday. While updating the web site with bridge, it lost the history of folder trees after the 1st page was updated. It said I could only use the desktop to post web pages. According to bridge there was no tree beyond desktop using the browse option.
typing in the entire path worked.
I rebooted bridge & PS, and got the path working again.
Couple hours later, rebooting bridge, it told me it was broken and offered 3 solutions to erase settings, erase thumbnails, and something else. I chose all 3 blocks. #3 was probably bridges database. I seldom compact, so there’s no need for an updated db.
Your PS or Bridge may be too damaged to even know it’s damaged. I’ll have to pass it on to someone that knows exactly where these 3 things are. That MIGHT be some of the trouble also.
