Adding filename into the image itself

Does anyone know how to extract the filename of an image, to be able to embeded it in the image itself – such as with using an action.

I know the contact sheet process extracts the filename but can’t seem to find how to do it myself.

You can only do this by scripting. Check out the scripting section on the exchange for a script that does this.
