I have a four-year-old machine running on an AMD Athlon 1.33 Ghz processor. Does anyone know if CS2 will run okay on this? It is hardware that otherwise still suits my needs.

All I can find on the hardware requirements page is Intel processors. Apparently CS2 will work okay on a Pentium III of IV. The above Athlon is equivalent to a PIV.

Appreciate hearing of anyone’s experience. After learning that Bibble is designed not to run on this processor, I figure I had better ask first.

Thanks,

Joe

I’d say yes then…

More important is the amount of RAM on your system.

The box says minimum 320Mb. To be honest it would only just run in this and then only if nothing else was running in the background.

If you’ve got a Gig of ram or more, your 4 year old machine should run CS2 okay.

CS2 runs stably and faster than CS on my P3-733 with 768MB of RAM. It’s slow on some operations, such as saving large files, some filters, etc., as one would expect, but during normal operations on reasonably-sized files it’s quite snappy. Your machine should do just fine.

Thanks to everyone who has responded this far. Everyone says CS2 should run on an Athlon 1.33 Ghz. But before I buy I hope to learn whether it will. Has anyone run it on an Athlon processor?

My concern is that Bibble refuses to run on an Athlon. It is designed not to. You must have an Athlon XP. I am wondering if Adobe pulled some cute trick like this. An article in the June Shutterbug says you must have an Athlon 64 (a new processor only now becoming available). I am hoping that information is wrong.

If no one has used CS2 on an Athlon, can you think of a way to get Adobe to answer my question about this? Technical support e-mail refused to answer.

I refuse, absolutely refuse, to buy a new computer every two years. But it seems like even software producers are now pushing this.

Appreciate any further help or experiences.

Why not download the demo and see for yourself?

If it will run on a Pentium 3, it will run on an Athlon.

Don’t you have a friend with broadband?
