I was wondering is there a particular scanner that does auto feed for photos that anyone would recommend. I sometimes sit and scan 300 photos at a time – very dull.
And to go one step further – is there a multi function unit that anyone would recommend that has auto photo feed. thanks.

It depends on how much money you want to spend, and what thickness of media the document feeder will allow.

So.. look to Epson and Microtek for units with your requirements. Some come with an ADF (Automatic Document Feeder), some allow them to be purchased as an optional item. There are other decent brands, but my best experience is with these two manufacturers.

If you have questions on a specific model, you may get more sage advice, provided you spell out requirements further.

Peace,

Chris-
I agree with Yrbkmgr. I have been doing some extensive research on this issue myself. I just bought a Epson 2480 scanner with the ADF. However, I was disappointed with the quality output, especially compared to my previous epson scanner that did not have the ADF. I am returning it. I am researching the Espon perfection 3170. It supposedly has much better quality, one touch restoration (if that’s important to you) and the auto feeder I believe is sold separate. Im still looking into how it operates. The scanner retails for around $170 and the feeder last I knew was an additional $200.

Like you Im still looking for the perfect scanner under $500 that can batch scan. If I find one I will let you know.

The Epson 3170 scanner has an optional auto document feeder . The scanner is around $179 and the document feeder sells for $199 on the Epson site. I have not used the document feeder, but the output of the 3170 is very good for the price.

THanks, further research shows that the Epson 2480 Limited Edition is the way to go for the ease of feeding multiples of photos without standing around here is a few links I found

< http://www.amazon.com/gp/cdp/member-reviews/A1ILRQCKUEC47/re f=ref=cm_aya_bb_rev/002-6112647-6176800>

and < http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/consumer/consDetail.jsp?B V_UseBVCookie=yes&oid=48302407>

I thought the Epson 4180 ws the perfect answer until I priced it – AU$500 for scanner and AU$392 for additional feeder so I wont be getting that one.

The Epson 2480 is US$170 at amazon – would love to know if you have done any further research.

thanks guys.
