Hey everyone,

first, let me say hi! This is my first post here. Please forgive me if this has been asked but I did try a couple searches, and browsed through the FAQ and didnt come up with anything.

Ok, on to the question. It appears as though I have some kind of virus and will need to reformat my entire HDD. However, I am a little worried about the activation system Adobe put in place for CS. If I have already registered it upon the original installation will it not let me install it again? How does it know that I am not simply installing it on an additional computer? I’m really worried because I certainly cant afford to buy an additional copy just because I am having to reformat….

Please help!! =)

Thank you all, and again I apologize if I am posting a redundant message.

Eric

hi eric. welcome to the user to user forums! i wouldn’t worry about it. adobe uses a rolling activation scheme (supposedly) that allows you 2 simultainious activations. they’re supposed to roll back over time. 6 mos. or so. if you’re ever denied automatic activation, you just call customer service and explain your situation and they give you a code to enter. i’ve never heard of anyone being denied reactivation and i’ve been hanging out here for a long time. 🙂

cheers, dave

Elamont, first, let me be regreting about your problems. I got the same many times in the past. It’s nightmare to reinstall everything and it takes a couple days or weeks!
Afterwards, being enough suffered from troubles, I started using PowerQuest Drive Image 2002 that allows you to create an image of the drive (any partition) and restore it back quickly in case of crash or so. And, just in case, it may work from DOS (using 2 DriveImage bootable diskette)!
Now periodically (once a week) I make image of drive C. It takes me about 5 minutes. And time to time I write that image to the DVD.
At least 5 times Drive Image saved my life.
I highly recommend.

P.S. Sorry for off-topic and bad English…

Regards.
