I have a image that has a white background and I would like to make the background transparent so that I can place the PayPal logo on any background.
the image can be seen at www.eaglepi.com/paypalverified.jpg

I would appreciate if someone could help me do this.

Thanks in advance

1 image layer – right click – layer properties – accept new name = unlock layer 2 magic lasso 32 tolerance – select outer white all 4 corners 3 toolbar edit pull down – clear.

now save as a gif with the background transparent.

I haven’t tried transparent GIF on newer Photoshop to remember all small detail, and I was using the old plug-in instead of Photoshop’s built-in option. But in general

1. Convert the JPG or any other format to GIF

2. And there is an option and select the WHITE color to be transparent color and that’s it! Save as Transparent GIF and you have it.

Thanks in advance

Instead of feeding this troll, stick him in your kill filter. Arguing with stupid, puts you at a disadvantage with people not knowing who is stupider. And it CLOGS the news group.

You made your request in a public place, now the public gets to comment on your activities. That is how newsgroups work. If you don’t like it, too bad.

Show me where I asked for someone to do it for me??

Never typed that you did ask. I was, and still am, suggesting that doing work for someone is much less helpful than teaching them how to do it for themselves.

Now if the quoting has gotten messed up and you are the original person asking for the help, learn to do it yourself, you will be much better off.

It’s the exact same number of reasons why I should care about your opinions.

Good, then be on your way…

So you’re the doorman now are you?
You think you can make me leave?
You have delusions of importance my friend.

I figured you stay around for some more fun. You are so easy.

A classic troll response.

I have no problem trolling for goofballs like you. Adults can control what they do, you can not.

Chuckle.

Good idea, teach him how to do it, if you can.

Now if the quoting has gotten messed up and you are the original person asking for the help, learn to do it yourself, you will be much better off.

Now you say "learn to do it yourself". Which is it, teach him or let him learn it himself?

Or are you just full of hot air?

He always has been full of hot air. I used to play him like a fish but got fed up with it in the end. AM was so predictable it became no fun but it did occupy a minute fraction of my day.

Teaching is not doing it for him. Guiding him so he can find his own way is not doing it for him. I guess you never had a good teacher.

So, teach, if you feel that’s more helpful.

I agree that there seems something not normal with him. It is very deeply seated. I have been around a long time and he has never changed.

He also seems to have a fixation with the word "chuckle" . Very strange. He would make a good case study for some young psychoanalyst.

I just kill file him after a while as it all gets very repetative and as you rightly say he never offers any practical help.

Well, he does but some of you don’t seem to be able to learn <bg>

1. He teaches others to learn to help oneself

2. He teaches others to learn to look at the already made to learn that’s possible.

3. He teaches others not to depend on other but oneself

4. He teaches others that teaching is different than servicing

5. He teaches others that there is always the price for anything. Or if other spends time to learn then they will earn the knowledge and the know how, if they can’t learn (like most average people we don’t know everything) then the price they have to pay for is $$$

6. He teaches others try not to expect something free for nothing.

7. He teaches others not to get anything free from him so don’t waste the afford. But he offers the already made to prove that it’s possible if knowing how.

Me? I don’t have anything to against anyone personal, but I have always have him kill-filed many years ago (could be 7-8+ years ago) cuz I don’t see any benefit seeing other begging him for free service which he won’t without $$$$

LOL. I can’t believe how long you’ve had this one hooked without the line breaking, or him spitting the hook out. Must be the new line and lure, and that you have the drag set to about two pounds.

As if there was a need to be worried about your "status" in a newsgroup. There is no "status" in a newsgroup… it is just a group of messages. That can be read by anyone at any time.

Totally agreed, Mike. I did notice the ‘between the lines’ meaning, and certainly I spoke to much in a hurry. And of course, we should bear with those amusing themselves with the less sophisticated as ‘funnies’.

I wonder how many people become part of the furniture in a newsgroup. Of course there is those making a newsgroup part of the daily routine (I am posting to the same SA group since 1998 ((ten years thus)) ) but it is as if people in this NG keep on changing names without becoming more.
(On the other hand, I also recall you saying we became kind of a clan:-)

In other words, you’ve just made it clear that the only reason you’re here in what essentially is a support group is to amuse yourself by causing as much dissidence as you can. You are one of those people that think I cause "dissidence", like you pointed out, I have no special abilities to cause anything to happen in this newsgroup, except that my messages appear here. How much "dissidence" you experience is totally up to you. I have no control over what YOU feel, think, or experience.

I don’t care what you think I am. So telling you that I post in this newsgroup for my own amusment is not an admission of any guilt. I enjoy this newsgroup in my own way. Hope you do also.

It’s more than that.

Ok – here’s my take on Mike C aka Artist Mike.

There will always be a supply of people who insist on locking horns with Mike C. My regret is not that, so much, but the occasional person who simply can’t take cyber-bullying in stride, and leaves the group.

I’ve had offline conversations with several people, mostly women who took their creative energies elsewhere to avoid the abuse. One person had an irrational dread of being singled out by him, and is now happily off on a blog somewhere out of his reach. Another actually got along fine with Mike C, but did not appreciate the abuse from the people he was locking horns with, who wanted her on their side – I’ve experienced this as well. Still a third is probably now deceased, with her last month or two of life poisoned somewhat by her inability to resist interracting with Mike C. These deeds are all on his karmic plate and there will be a price, somewhere in his life, to be paid for them.

He vanished from the group shortly thereafter, and I had some hope, after his recent return, that he felt badly about this and was going to behave himself. Fat chance. Turns out he has simply been preying on people in an online environment instead.

Sigh, such is the dynamic here. But it is a mistake not to give him his due. The guy is deep, complex, very talented, and may well be a genius. His animations on Sesame Street probably amused, and yes, educated, the majority of the current generation of English speakers in their younger years.

As one who has always greatly valued this group, and what it can offer, it is a shame that Mike C also happens to be a genius at bullying people. —

Hey there Mike R! Well, I simply killfiled him. I went to his site and he does really great work. What I don’t understand is what’s his purpose here? Just to insult people and bully them? To what end? Just because he’s a creative and skilled artist doesn’t give him a reason to act like he does. Acting like he does takes away from his talents. I don’t care how creative a person is, if he acts like this guy does, no one wants anything to do with him.
There’s no excuse for a person to act this way, whether it’s in real life or on the Net. Most people would never talk to another person in real life like that for fear that they might get a fist in the face. Of course here, it’s anonymous so no one has to fear that, but being rude to others is just inexcusable.
To others here, why can’t you just not say anything to a poster that rubs you the wrong way instead of insulting them or belittling them? I don’t understand why people feel the need to belittle someone for any reason. By insulting someone, it just makes you look small. When someone comes here to ask a question, if you don’t want to help them, then don’t. Is it necessary to make fun of them because they don’t know something? Sure, they could Google it and maybe find the answer, but it’s not the same as having someone explain it to them. None of us were born with the knowledge we have, and we had to ask questions to find the answers, so why not help those who come here for help? Isn’t that what this group is for?
Anyway, that’s my 2¢ worth…

Not easy to explain. I’d say that he uses your very reasonable questions as grist for the mill. The idea is to keep people off balance, and manipulate them with just a couple of words and keep them hooked.

Just because he’s a creative and skilled artist doesn’t give him a reason to act like he does. Acting like he does takes away from his talents. I don’t care how creative a person is, if he acts like this guy does, no one wants anything to do with him.

Except that there are always a few people who will keep going, ad infinitum, answering every little poke that Mike C gives them. There are always a couple of people here who cannot resist this.

He’s not anonymous, which is one of his more remarkable features. You can go to his site, see pictures of him, his house, and girlfriend, and see his past work. All of these indicate he is an interesting person that I would probably get along with if I knew him personally. I suspect that his behavior with tormenting people on the net is not widely known to his friends, or they just shrug it off.

I’ll also add, as another of his remarkable features, that he never gets angry, and doesn’t hold a grudge. He and I appear to always be on friendly terms, no matter what I have said about him over the years.

This is not your run of the mill flamer.

To others here, why can’t you just not say anything to a poster that rubs you the wrong way instead of insulting them or belittling them? I don’t understand why people feel the need to belittle someone for any reason. By insulting someone, it just makes you look small.

I can’t claim to understand why he does this bullying, but I know that he doesn’t see it this way. It’s an art form, or an abstract game for him. The goal is to cause a large reaction in someone with a minimum of energy expended on his part. Denying the reactions of others, or rather the validity of those reactions, is also part of the game.

When someone comes here to ask a question, if you don’t want to help them, then don’t. Is it necessary to make fun of them because they don’t know something? All words to live by – but not really relevant to Mike C’s game. I think no harm is done by the people who spar with him. My only regret – and the reason I’m saying anything at all about him – is the few people who have been really hurt.

There is no "abuse". I write my opinions, just like everyone else is allowed to do, and some people find it "abuse" some find it amusing, some find it not worth reading, some enjoy it.

The reader has all the power, not the author, to decide how the words will affect the reader. You really do need to learn who has the power in newsgroups. Hint: it is not the author of the text, it is the reader.

Hey there Mike R! Well, I simply killfiled him. I went to his site and he does really great work. What I don’t understand is what’s his purpose here?

I have told people many times… even though you have me filtered… I will mention it again.

I post in newsgroups for my own amusement. No other reason is needed.

Just to insult people and bully them?

How insulted or bullied someone chooses to feel is totally up to them. Silly people need to learn how to take responsibility for what they think and how they feel. It is not my job to make them feel good or bad. I post messages, they (silly people) then choose to feel good or bad on their own as a response to those messages.

To what end?

Ask the goofy people that choose to feel threatened or bullied or scared, or any number of things as a result of reading messages in newsgroups.

Just because he’s a creative and skilled artist doesn’t give him a reason to act like he does.

Being an artist is unrelated to what I do in newsgroups. I read and post in newsgroups for my own amusement. What you do for a living is not related to what you post in newsgroups, so why should my work have anything to do with messages in a newsgroup. I see no reason for you to think they are linked.

Acting like he does takes away from his
talents.

Does your goofy message here take away from your work related talents?

Chuckle.

I don’t care how creative a person is, if he acts like this guy does, no one wants anything to do with him.

That is not your choice to make. You don’t make the choices for "everyone".

You are funny.

":^)

There’s no excuse for a person to act this way, whether it’s in real life or on the Net.

"Act this way"? What way am I acting? I post my opinions, I post as I wish. Is that what is bothering you? That I post as I wish, and not as YOU wish I would?

Chuckle. You really are funny.

":^)

Most people would never talk to another
person in real life like that for fear that they might get a fist in the face.

Is that your fear? I think you are saying much more about yourself than anything about me.

":^)

Of course here, it’s anonymous so no one has to fear that, but being rude to others is just inexcusable.

You poor baby. Did someone be rude to you?

":^)

To others here, why can’t you just not say anything to a poster that rubs you the wrong way instead of insulting them or belittling them?

Try taking your own advice.

":^)

I don’t understand why people feel the need to belittle someone for any reason.

Why don’t you look inside and tell why you are attempting to do that very thing to me?

Chuckle.

By insulting someone, it just makes you look small.

How big are you?

":^)

When someone comes here to ask a question, if you don’t want to help them, then don’t. Is it necessary to make fun of them because they don’t know something?

Remember… they don’t have to respond to messages that they don’t like. Did you forget your own advice?

":^)

Isn’t that what this group is for?

The newsgroup is for many things. You don’t get to decide for anyone but yourself how to use the newsgroup.

I can’t claim to understand why he does this bullying, but I know that he doesn’t see it this way. It’s an art form, or an abstract game for him. The goal is to cause a large reaction in someone with a minimum of energy expended on his part.

The goal is the game. The fun had by the players of the game is also a goal. As soon as the game is not fun, I do something else. I see no need to do something that I don’t enjoy.

":^)

Denying the reactions of others, or rather the
validity of those reactions, is also part of the game.

I deny the responsibility for some other person’s feelings and thoughts. Those things are their responsibility, not mine.

I am choosing to not accept their attempts at making me responsible for their own internal state of being.

I can write "you are stupid"… it is your choice to accept that as a "truth" or as "not a truth". The resulting feelings you might have as a result of your choice are also your responsibility.

I think
no harm is done by the people who spar with him. My only regret – and the reason I’m saying anything at all about him – is the few people who have been really hurt.

How "hurt" they might be is totally up to them.

I have no problem with people that don’t want to "listen" to my messages. That is probably the best thing for them … plug their ears so they don’t have to "listen" to the voices.

You don’t know what you are talking about.
I trusted what you said and had a look myself.
All that he does is shameless copying from ‘theimagingfactory’. No creating talent and nothing original at all.
I killfiled him but of course I saw what you said about his ‘talents’ As I said, his ‘talents ‘are copies from artists.

Heh, you’re so unaffected you answered me twice! Anyhow, please believe the only regret I have with regard to your style of posting is that you probably could be of help to many people but choose rather to troll. I learned long ago that a thick skin was a pre-requisite to a healthy Usenet experience. My only reason for engaging you so long was to see if you’d admit you don’t want to help others despite your ability to do so. I’ve done that to my own satisfaction, so that’s all I require of you for now.

Trolling for fish is a sport. It is a style of fishing. Are you a fish? Do you feel hooked?

Goofy people need thick skins… normal people just move on.

There is nothing to "admit" to. I post for my own amusement. Every now and then there is one person that learns not to be such a goofball but they are few and far between.

Do you really think that I will stop posting because you don’t "require" me to post now?

Chuckle, come on.

I see, so you’re saying that Mike Russell doesn’t know what he’s talking about either then when Mike said in an earlier post:

But it is a mistake not to give him his
due. The guy is deep, complex, very talented, and may well be a genius. His animations on Sesame Street probably amused, and yes, educated, the majority of the current generation of English speakers in their younger years.

I respect Mike Russell and his views on things. If he said the man has talent, then I believe the man has talent.

LOL. I can’t believe how long you’ve had this one hooked without the line breaking, or him spitting the hook out. Must be the new line and lure, and
that you have the drag set to about two pounds.
