I have to admit that over the years I have, unfortunately, become a bit jaded when it comes to new or updated software announcements. I rarely get too excited about such news and don’t usually have very high expectations of the soon to be released product. And, I pretty much felt the same way when I heard about Photoshop’s upcoming CS2 release.
I thought CS2 would bring some nice-to-have improvements, but I really wasn’t counting on anything that would have a real impact on my workflow. But, man o’ man was I wrong!
This release (at least for my particular needs) is major…with a capital M! Every feature request I’d asked for (through the NAPP website) was included…right down to the little indication mark that’s given when a photo has had settings applied by Camera Raw.
There are so many improvements and time savers to talk about I hardly know where to begin. The new Vanishing Point is nothing short of brilliant…the Smart Objects feature will condense and organize so many loose ends…and of course, my favorite…the new Camera Raw workflow.
While I DO appreciate the whole team and DO understand that there are dozens and dozens of dedicated people involved, I would like to send out a special thanks to Thomas Knoll.
Thank you so very much for your vision, your attention to detail, your drive to "make it better", and your willingness to actually listen to your client base! And I especially thank you for continuing to look out for us photographers.
You really do "get it" when you hear photographers talking about the need to reduce their post production time. You really do "get it" that we face demanding clients who want the color to be perfect. Your dedictation and talent for tuning the multitude of camera profiles that Camera Raw uses has been phenomenal.
I could go on, but I think my entheusiasm is clear. Mr. Knoll, the Photoshop team, and all the folks at Adobe are to be commended for their efforts. It is VERY much appreciated.
Sincerely,
Dean Carnagey
