I can save my pictures to Photoshop CS as a PSD but when I try to save as any other format, it just saves it again as a PSD. I tried opening a new folder and renaming the picture, then saving as a JPG but still it saves it as a PSD even though I didn’t choose PSD from the drop-down box. I tried saving it as a JPG on another hard drive, and it still saves only as a PSD.

Have I unknowingly set Photoshop to do this or is my program corupted?

I am totally baffled. Please help me if you can. I have to forward proofs to a client and I can only send them to him as JPGs. Thank you.

Are you in 16 bit mode? JPGs only work with 8 bit.

Have you tried deleting your preference file as per the Forum FAQs?

I haven’t tried that but today Photoshop started saving JPGs again without me doing anything. This has happened before, not saving and then suddendly saving again. I’m trying to figure this out because it happens always at the worst time when I need to save as a JPG to send it to a client.

I appreciate any suggestions you can give me.
