PS CS2 Batch or Image Processor won’t run PS scripts in an action.

The error is ‘The command “Scripts” is not currently available in the first image’.

In the Bridge I selected 90+ Kodak raw images. All adjustments had been prepped in ACR filmstrip mode. I then went to tools, Image Processor and prepared to save them all as both PSD and JPG. I selected an action that calls a JavaScript to update the file info data. The first image had been opened and was active when the error occurred.

The action runs fine from an opened image. I used IP to process all the images to PSD files without the action. No worries mate.

I then tried it by running Photoshop – Batch again selecting the PSD images from the Bridge. Same failure.

Finally, I tried by running from PSCS automate – batch. I selected the new folder since source:bridge is not available. I set Destination: Save and Close. This failed with “could not save XXX because the file is in use or open”. The file that failed was the fourth, G9PT1130.psd. That is bizarre because this file is not in this folder. It should have been. The script action has no open, save, or close steps.

This might have been an intermittent error. I ran it again, this time with no errors.

I see that there should be a new scripting guide for the Bridge, but it was not on the CD that I could find. And I’m trying to run a PSCS action/script, not a Bridge script anyhow.

Cheers, Rags 🙂

The reason for not being able to run scripts when using Image Processor is that the image Processor itself is a script. So in this case a script runs an action that runs a script, which is not supported (wasn’t in PS CS either). Your actions that you specify to be run from Image Processor can’t run scripts.

Jouko,

That might explain it. But it seems to be anything from the Bridge. These used to work fine from the CS1 File Browser.

I have the same problem. Tried to resize a bunch of JPEGs and apply unsharp mask via predefined action. Didn’t work out. If the action was removed from Iamge Processor settings it worked fine.

Just a FUP, but I recall that I was able to run actions that did not call scripts from the CS2 Bridge or Image Processor. Was yours using a filter?

Cheers, Rags 🙂

Yes, Unsharp mask is a filter.
