Presumably CS4 will incorporate all/some of the automated mask/compositing tools announced for Elements 7.

I am more interested in whether Adobe will finally get the user interface together so that there is not the duplication of functions under other names in the converter and the desktop. Basically I would like to see the converter entirely dumped/trashed/killed/destroyed/source-code-erased and have all images open on the desktop and available for all tools to be deployed non-destructively. If they only did that and nothing else I would pre-order CS4 sight unseen.

I wouldn’t count on much from Elements making it over to Photoshop. Two totally different markets. One for novice that need all of the help they can get the other professional that doesn’t really want, need or desire gimicky hand holding toy features.
