Somehow the EXIF data from my camera doesn’t seem to make it when I edit in PS Elements v.5 and use the "Save for web" option.

I have the saving setting "Ignore camera profiles (EXIF)" unchecked (not that I think it’s got anything to do with it), and can see no other options.

Can anyone advise please?

Mike

Not sure about elements but in PS there is a selection of what to strip and what to leave. Deleting EXIF makes images load faster.

Not really. Using Save As (then JPG, GIF) retains the data while Save for Web/Media removes it.

So, OP – can you use SAVE AS and retain it?

EXIF data has a minimal consequence upon image loading.

Thanks for that. I’ll check it out.

The save for web option enables me to leave the web parameters fixed, I save hi-quality for printing and 20% for web (after size reduction). I guess I’ll have to decide on the lesser evil!!

Understood. Which is why I wondered if it were possible to keep it on that option.

Thanks

Mike

Please share what you find with us.

EXIF data for on-line pictures is quite helpful to the rest who wish to know the details. Some sites (and plug-ins) can show the data, and to be able to search on the metadata is a bonus.

Lastly TEST 1c Above image (1a) saved for web (20%) in PSE5:- (file size 97Kb)
No EXIF information.
********************

It’s just a pity I suppose – my web pictures are saved in one place (for uploading), the others are saved in another, for archiving, so those are my PSE defaults.

The only other fiddly option, I suppose, is how can I load the EXIF data back onto a photo prepared for uploading?

Thanks Jurgen, that’s what I was hoping for, but cannot find.

So the conclusion is that to retain EXIF with Elements is to use SAVE AS, not SAVE FOR WEB. That is consistent up to CS3 (I don’t have CS4).

As to reloading the EXIF to SAVE FOR WEB images – I do not know because I do not have Elements. Sorry.

Thanks for the report!
