Hello,
When opening files (like ex. *.jpg) program is displaying (in OPEN menu0 a short message attached to each file with the following info:
dimmension, date picture taken, camera model, type and size. Q1. how do you call displayed text?
Q2. what should I do to stop displaying such text?
Thank you
Stefan I.

Stefanig,

Although the industry is trying to standardize EXIF, that’s the information that digital cameras put to their photo image files for programs to read. "EXIF to view information imported from your digital camera, such as the date and time the picture was taken, resolution in ppi, the ISO speed rating, f/stop, compression, and exposure time. For more information about EXIF annotations, see your digital camera documentation."

Print preview will show this information in Caption option.

As Bob said, it’s EXIF data provided by your digital camera. If you’re asking how to remove it entirely, you should probably resave your images in a file format that doesn’t support it. I’m not sure what whould be your best choice. If you just don’t want to SEE it, toggle expanded view off. You can do that with the double-arrow button at the bottom of the File Browser, or you can deselect Expanded View in the More menu. Unfortunately you’ll be giving up the two sections above the EXIF data too (thumbnail and explorer-like browser).
