Have you experienced any problems with your CS actions running within CS2? First off I’ve had to add a close command at the end of each action – which is no biggie – however in CS, this automatically happened after the save command.

Secondly, actions that ran perfectly in CS now seem to place the layers in a different sequence when running under CS2? Any thoughts on this on how to correct this? Note that I tested several of my actions and they all seem to misalign the layer sequence – which obviously effects the overall desired image correction.

I worked on this for several hours and couldn’t come up with a fix. Tried deleting certain items that I thought might pose a conflict and even stepped through the original CS action (within CS2) one item at a time and it worked exactly as desired. The problem seems to be in the saving and then re-loading the next image – I just can’t put my finger on it. Could really use the brain trust on this one!

You are referring to batch processing, correct?

What is the format of the file being saved, e.g., .tif, .jpg, etc. Is this the same format as the original files?

There was a change in the (equivalent of) Alt + Merge Visible command (aka: alt+ctrl+shift+E) works in CS2. It works like alt+ctrl+shift+N+E has in previous versions.

Yes – actions written to process my corrected 20D RAW images. No Danny, I wasn’t merging any layers in this particular action – in fact I want to maintain the integrity of the layers inorder to go back and individually tweak an image if necessary. Typically I save layered files as PSD’s and while TIF’s are flattened files.

Someone on the DPReview Retouching forum suggested re-writing the action from scratch in CS2, but I would like to avoid that if at all possible.

First off, doing a re-write in CS2 worked just fine – but that comes at no surprise. However what I now believe you have to do is not only add a "close" command at the end of the action but also delete your old open command and insert a new one, generated from CS2. It occurred to me that open/done commands were different and I tried it and all the other steps worked as desired – maintaning the intergrey of the level sequence. Hope this helps and perhaps others can confirm.
