Good question. I’m sure there will be plenty of advice coming on how to say Hello in a faster, more convenient, more professional, less cumbersome, more artistic, less amateurish way, using blends, opacity masks, clipping masks, merged layers, colour correction, curves and a great new plug-in available in beta.

I can’t remember the word, but surely the OPs greeting is a duplicate.
Either Hi! or |Hello! but using both has to be wrong.

So tell me. Does the age of one who offers good information matter? Really, so a person (male or female) gives information that works – how does age make a difference?
For all you know I could be 12 years-old living in my parents’ house.
Good information is all that matters.
Got that? Fuckwit? Got it?

Incredible what happens when someone says "Hello"! Very funny! Sad, but funny.

And that’s a bad thing? It has not hindered the many tips I’ve offered, nor the problems I’ve solved here.

Yep, a lot of tempers have been flaring here lately, over nothing. And it’s not just one person doing it.
As one who has been posting here for a very long time – 20 or 30 years – Usenet is in a downward spiral. Because it is anonymous and unregulated, Usenet is a logical gathering place for those who are ejected from moderated web groups. Recently, one person who wore out his welcome in the Photoshop forums, and doing the same stuff here, only now no one can stop him.
Another reason Usenet is declining is that the game is shifting. There are several good places exist for friendly discussion of Photoshop. Most of the yahoo groups are moderated, and can be configured to be text only email. For those of you with more bandwidth, imagine the advantages of posting an image or screenshot along with your post. There is www.dgrin.com, www.flickr.com, www.nikondigital.org, www.nikonians.org, www.retouchpro.com, www.myjanee.com, and other excellent places. Oh, and for color correction issues,
www.curvemeister.com/forum/ .
This is not to give up on Usenet. The photoshop groups are still a very worthy resource, because many people continue to contribute positively here, in spite of the frequent negative vibes we get. It has its ebbs and flows. After a little time has passed, and the more problematic characters get bored and move on, things will revert back to normal again.

Now we found out who really ‘invented’ the internet – you predate Al Goré by 5 [or more] years! [1978]. <G>
Agreed. What’s required is an occasional reminder to avoid troll-feeding. I could use it myself now and then. The alternative is often a very bland forum where spirited debate is stifled in favor of vanilla discussion.

🙂 I’ve been on international networks of various types since 1977, and installed the first Internet for my home town only ‘yesterday’, 1989. Been a lot of changes since then!
My fondest memory was when the former USSR failed and Russians who had been quiet until then hit the net with questions and suggestions regarding the US technology they had – which had always been banned from exsport to the USSR. Mainly PDP 11 and VAX systems (RT-11, RSX, RSTS/E and VMS). OOPS! Rambling….

There is nothing wrong a little respect for other people having a different opinion. Sometimes I am tempted to light up in defence of my opinion and then remember, it is only my opinion.
Like everyone else’s opinion, mine will be forgotten before the ripple of a stone thrown in a pond fades back to still water.
I actually think Usenet works well un-moderated. Sure there are a few idiots who have mental issues that compel them to seek gratification from a verbal bash up on someone but on the whole, they don’t last long and if they hang around, eventually realise we all have bozo bins and are using them.

Yep – I worked in Evans Hall at UC Berkeley, and used the early versions of email and what was called "net news" in the mid 70’s. Posts were very sparse. It was people at a few other universities, plus Bell Labs talking to each other about vacations and such.
Even then there was no shortage of flaming, LOL.

Sorry, very, very rural US – no DSL or Cable – useless to try on 28K dialup.
