I’m a relative novice to manipulation. I now have CS3 and have taken a few RAW images. Can anybody guide me on the process to get them into Photoshop so that I can edit them please?

Depends on what camera you have.
The latest camera’s (Canon 5DII eg) don’t work with CS3, you’ll need CS4 for that,
or the DNG 5.2 convertor (adobe.com do a search)
But first update Photoshop (Help-Update..)
You just might need a newer RAW-plugin.

open bridge and navigate to the folder
let it cache the thumbnails (it takes a little while)
then double click one image or a list of images by using control key held down
it should open the RAW dialog box

(if it does not see above post)

in that interface are sliders to adjust
if you use select all >>synchronize it will adjust all the images at once or you can adjust one and then go back to the
below the image is a link– click it to choose what color space you want to work in and what size image you want to save if you want to save it or
from there you can open them in PS for further work OR choose done and Bridge remembers the crop and adjusts
so next time you open the pic in PS it will open the RAW dialog first

other good thing I like you can edit and crop the images in Bridge and export to PS to make contact sheets
good to show images already adjusted and cropped the way you want

you can watch a slide show in Bridge
and some other cool things
