Does anyone know of a version of learning CS4
that will play on my home DVD player? Not the computer… Possible a torrent or such…

The "Learning CS4" DVD that came with the CS4 package purchase won’t play on my home DVD player (incompatible file error message on player)

Wonder if I burn it to DVD (basically copy it to another DVD) with Nero, if it would convert it to a format my home DVD player will recognize? Or is it all Java Based or something that a home DVD player would never recognize?

I just hate sitting at the computer watching training videos.

Why wonder? Why not simply try it? DVD’s are cheap enough.

Then, you do not want to learn.
It is a training video, not a soapie.

Not likely. You could do the conversion yourself, but there are no free converters that will do the mp4 compression for a "real" DvD

To be expected.

If your DvD player is DivX compatible (look for DivX on the front, or in the manual, use the free trial period of the DivX converter to convert the photoshop movie to DivX.

Get some nice headphones and a comfy chair, or hook your puter up to your TV. www.videohelp.com is a good place to look for help.

YES, NO, YES, NO, NO, YES, NO

– YES, you can play on stand alone DVD

– NO, the video tutorial like Lynda, TT etc. are designed to play on computer DVD.

– YES, you can burn to DVD

– NO, you can’t just copy else you just make the exact duplicate

– NO, not Nero but a DVD Authoring supports .MOV format that most video tutorials use.

– YES, you should be able to convert MOV to MPEG and most stand alone DVD can play MPEG

– NO, I don’t know how you come up with Java Based idea. How about DIR it to stop wondering such thing.

Mpeg4 is the tutorial format?
All I need is the basic info as to what I’m dealing with, then I can track down a solution.
Or find there is no solution LOL

So it might be a .mov file OR a Mpeg4? OK

Well that just disqualifies my previous comment. LOL

I was just thinking it might be a java based thing <shrugs shoulders> Now that I’ve gotten feedback, I know there isn’t a simple 1-2-3 thing I should’a already know about.
Soooo a little research is in order. If for nothing more than my own curiousity.

Thanks guys…

Actually it doesn’t matter what format it may be, cuz most standard video converter or DVD Authoring should support most if not all formats.

TMPGenc DVD Author v3.x and newer for example should support DivX, MPEG(s), VOB, and many other like .MKV, FLV, RM etc.. and I never tried .MOV to know for sure. Many DVD Author has built-in video converter so you don’t even need to convert to MPEG DVD Ready format.

If you don’t want to use DVD Author to turn into standard DVD structure then you can use the Video Converter to convert to MPG which most stand alone DVD players can play, some other like Philips can play AVI, DivX etc. And if your stand alone DVD player doesn’t seem to recognize the video then you may try to *rename* to .MPG see if it will detect and play it. Or most DVD players are programed to detect the MPG extension so rename to .MPG may work

About PC, if your video player can’t play some format then the chance that your system doesn’t have the specific CODEC.
