You load XP as upgrade on top of 98?
All kinds of odd things can happen if that’s the case.

Thanks Yrbkmgr – PS7 was opening as soon as I single clicked the icon, but I followed your advice and the dialog box popped up. I’ve fixed it now. Works well, touch wood.
To Mac: no I have two networked computers – one is 98 the other xp. I just reinstalled PS7 and updated to 7.0.1 and see again that it still says in the system info that I’m working on win 98?? Strange.
Cheers

The CTL-ALT-SHIFT trick does not work on my keyboard; I get a box asking if I want a new catalog. Is there another wat to get to it??

Hi, Michael. You have to do when starting the Editor, not the organizer or the welcome screen.

To delete all prefs:
Go to C:\Documents and Settings\<your login>\Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements [replacing <your login> appropriately] and rename the folder "3.0" to "3.old".

The C-Documents-path worked. I made the new folder and my missing features are back.

Thank you
