Hello,

I have question about next problem. I have several very big pictures, but they look not so good on A3 paper. I want them to put to 2x a3 papers [then stick 2 papers together]. Could anyone explain me in some steps how to increase picture so i can just print 2x a3 paper and stick it together and then its big picture.

Thanks in advance, Teo

Resize your pictures to A3-size!
Image > Image Size

A3 =
297 x 420 mm or
11,693 x 16,535 inches or
3508 x 4961 pixels

If the dimensions of your pictures don’t fit these, then you’ll have to crop Enter one of the dimensions above in the crop toolbar and select (with the crop tool!) the area you want to keep.

Resize your pictures to A3-size!
He said 2xA3 eg: twice that A3 in one [unspecified] direction.

Image > Image Size

A3 =
297 x 420 mm or
11,693 x 16,535 inches or

So it would be 297 x 840 mm or 594 x 420 mm in the Image Menu.

3508 x 4961 pixels
That would depend upon the resolution, no?

May try something like.

1. Print the current photo to whatever size which give the best result. Or just print to 4×6

2. Scan the 4×6 print at good resolution for whatever size you want to print.

If the result is still not acceptable then go for option 2

1. Print the scanned to 8×10 or similar

2. Using a good DSLR camera ( *not* P&S) tp capture the print, then you should have a good photo for pretty large print.

Well, he wants to stick 2 A3’s together with glue, so he has to resize twice to A3, no?

Or you could draw use the old school method of drawing 1" squares on the picture, then use an overhead projector to expand it on a wall to the scale you want. That works too.

NO.

Once to 2x [unspecified width/height], then split and print. [Or split and then rezise each ‘half’ to A3].

Just making sure that you’re not confusing the OP with an absolute. IF the OP had simple entered those numbers, Murphy would have made sure it was a mess as he’d most likely have a differend resolution set..

You haven’t looked much at the imagery on eBunkem, eh?

Sounds like an ‘ex spurt’ <G>

Hi Teo,

You’ve received some confusing answers, unfortunately.

Save your original image to a safe place. duplicate your original to two new images, and crop each new image to include the two halves of your final larger image. Then use Image Size to make each image fit on an A3 sheet.

I usually leave an overlap between the two images. Then I can line the images up exactly, tape them together on a hard surface, and use a sharp blade to get a perfect match. I then tape the two halves together from the back.

Unless it’s a line-art, else I would say take to photolab which is easier and probably cheaper or about same price for ink and glassy photo papers.

That’s a good point, economically speaking. Costco will do a 20×30 for about $16. The result is more permanent than most inkjet printers. —

The only change I’d make to those sensible instructions are to resize to A2 (or whatever you mean by 2 x A3) FIRST (after saving) before duplicating.

Then there’s no danger of losing collimation by odd pixel adjustments.
